Appointed for a period of one year, the interns have an opportunity to learn first-hand the work of the National Parliament and the complexity of policy-making. The duties of the selected interns vary from office to office. However, their specific tasks include:
- Carrying out research to respond to requests from parliamentarians, committees and departments;
- Participating in committee work as part of the research team directly assisting a parliamentary committee;
- Preparing studies on public policy topics relevant to parliamentarians; and
- Providing support in organizing meetings.
